FCCPC Shuts Down Shops for Rebagging Local Rice as Foreign Brands in Abuja
The Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC) has sealed multiple shops in Utako Market, Abuja, after discovering deceptive practices involving the rebagging of locally produced rice as foreign brands.
The operation, carried out on April 15, 2025, followed complaints from brand owners and concerned consumers. The shops were found repackaging local rice under well-known brands like Royal Stallion and Mama Gold, which have not been in circulation for years.
The FCCPC confiscated the counterfeit products and sealed the businesses involved in the fraudulent activity.
