Ex-DSS Director Mike Ejiofor: Kidnapping Has Become a Lucrative “Franchise” in Nigeria

Former Director of the Department of State Services (DSS), Mike Ejiofor, has described kidnapping as the fastest-growing criminal enterprise in Nigeria, stating that it has become a "franchise" due to the country’s worsening economic realities.

Ejiofor lamented that no one is exempt from this crime, as law enforcement personnel, religious leaders, traditional rulers, and even politicians have all become easy targets.

He further noted that armed robbery has declined in Nigeria, as people no longer keep large sums of cash at home.
