Emir Sanusi II Invited by Police Over Deadly Eid Procession Clash in Kano
The Nigeria Police Force has summoned the 16th Emir of Kano, Muhammad Sanusi II, for questioning over the violence that disrupted the recent Eid-el-Fitr procession in Kano, resulting in the death of a local vigilante member.
The incident occurred during the traditional Sallah procession as the Emir’s convoy made its way from the Eid prayer ground to the palace. The clash led to the death of Surajo Rabiu, a vigilante group member, and left another person injured.
According to an official letter dated April 4, 2025, and signed by CP Olajide Rufus Ibitoye on behalf of the Deputy Inspector-General of Police in charge of the Force Intelligence Department (FID), the monarch is expected to appear for an investigative session.
