El Salvador Imprisons 300 Gang Members Deported from the U.S.
El Salvador has taken a strong stance against organized crime by imprisoning 300 gang members deported from the United States under the 1798 Alien Enemies Act.
Among those deported were alleged members of a Venezuelan criminal organization and individuals linked to MS-13, one of the most notorious gangs in the region.
They have been transferred to a high-security detention center built to hold up to 40,000 inmates.
Confirming the transfers, Salvadoran President Nayib Bukele reaffirmed his government's commitment to maintaining security and cracking down on gang violence in the country
