Dele Farotimi Clarifies Stance Amidst Defamation Suit and Peter Obi's Visit rights lawyer Dele Farotimi has clarified that he did not request anyone, including Peter Obi, to plead with legal icon Afe Babalola (SAN) on his behalf.
Farotimi is currently on trial in Ekiti State for a defamation suit filed against him by Babalola regarding his book, "Nigeria and Its Criminal Justice System.
Recent speculation arose following Peter Obi's visit to Babalola, which some interpreted as an attempt to negotiate on Farotimi's behalf. However, Temokun, Farotimi's lawyer, emphasized during a recent prison visit that Farotimi did not ask Obi to seek an out-of-court settlement or make any appeals to Babalola.
Temokun explained, "The events of the recent days, including Peter Obi's visit to Aare Afe Babalola and to Mr. Dele Farotimi, created some lack of clarity." He noted that their discussion aimed to address misunderstandings circulating in the community regarding the conditions for Farotimi's release and any potential apologies
