Putin Offers Zelensky Security Guarantees for Moscow Talks, Ukraine Declines

Russian President Vladimir Putin has assured Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky of full security protection should he agree to travel to Moscow for direct peace talks amid the ongoing war. 

Putin said Russia would provide “100% guarantees” of safety and working conditions, framing the offer as a chance for meaningful negotiations while dismissing neutral locations such as Istanbul.

However, President Zelensky swiftly rejected the proposal, describing Moscow as the “capital of a terrorist” and instead inviting Putin to Kyiv under similar guarantees.
