Speaking after the match, Ancelotti stated:

“Fede Valverde likes to play at right-back, but this was an emergency situation.”

He also confirmed that Lucas Vázquez will return soon and remains the primary option for the role:

“Lucas Vázquez will be back, Fede can be an option. Don’t forget that Lucas has had great games.”

With Dani Carvajal’s workload being managed and Lucas Vázquez’s upcoming return, Valverde is expected to return to his usual midfield duties.
