Bulgarian Club Holds Minute’s Silence for Former Player : Then Discovers He’s Alive
In a bizarre turn of events, Bulgarian first-division club Arda Kardzhali held a minute's silence for their former player, Petko Ganchev, only to later realize he was still alive.
The unusual incident occurred during their match against Levski Sofia on Sunday, March 16. Before kickoff, both teams gathered at the center circle to pay respects to Ganchev, whom the club mistakenly believed had passed away.
However, before the final whistle, Arda Kardzhali realized their error and issued a public apology on social media. "The management of PFC Arda would like to express a huge apology to former player Petko Ganchev and his relatives after the club received wrong information about his death," the statement read. "We wish Petko Ganchev many more years of good health and to enjoy the success of Arda."
