Tragedy struck in Zapopan, Jalisco, as 23-year-old Mexican beauty influencer Valeria Márquez was fatally shot during a TikTok live session, sending shockwaves through social media and reigniting concerns over gender-based violence in the country.

Márquez, known for her beauty tutorials and makeup content, was attacked inside the salon where she worked. 

Just moments before the shooting, she was live on TikTok, playfully holding a stuffed toy and interacting with viewers.
