Asue Ighodalo Issues Ultimatum to APC Chairman Over Defamatory Comments

Asue Ighodalo, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for the upcoming governorship election in Edo, has issued a three-day ultimatum to Jarrett Tenebe, the acting chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state, demanding the withdrawal of "defamatory comments."

In a letter dated December 18, lawyer Abimbola Akeredolu, representing Ighodalo from the firm Banwo & Ighodalo, stated that Tenebe has persisted in making these claims despite previous requests for retraction. Akeredolu, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), warned that legal action would be pursued if the comments are not retracted within the specified timeframe.

In response, Erhabor Emokpae, chair of the APC’s campaign organization, labeled Ighodalo's allegations as baseless. He emphasized that Alaghodaro, a private-sector initiative he leads, is dedicated to fostering economic growth and investment in Edo. Blessing Agbomhere, Emokpae's lawyer, stated that a report from the Edo State Vehicle Recovery Committee implicated Ighodalo.

Agbomhere further asserted that Tenebe's comments did not defame Ighodalo and therefore, there is no need for a public apology or retraction
