Woman Allegedly Killed by Husband in Elgin Just Before Divorce Finalization
A 33-year-old woman, Dreanna Booker, was allegedly killed by her husband, Pierre J. French, 36, at their home in Elgin last week, just a month before their divorce was set to be finalized. Police discovered Booker’s body around 1 a.m. on December 7 in the 700 block of Bluff City Boulevard.
French was taken into custody shortly after the incident. The couple was in the process of ending their marriage, with the divorce scheduled for January 1, 2025. Family members expressed their grief and called for justice, emphasizing the impact of the tragedy on their lives.
Booker’s niece, Zahnae Scott, remembered her as an inspirational figure, saying, "She meant a lot." The victim's brother, Thomas Mitchell, echoed this sentiment, stating, "We want justice for my baby."
Court records indicate that Booker had previously filed an emergency order of protection against French in July. The couple leaves behind six children, aged 1 to 14, who are now without both parents. The family has come together to support the children, with Tayvion, the victim's nephew, affirming that "her kids meant the world to her."
Diana Booker Williams, the victim's mother, highlighted their faith during this difficult time, stating, "We got God in our life. They're my strength and I'm their strength."
French faces first-degree murder charges and is scheduled to appear in court on December 18 in Kane County
