Uganda Stops Nine Men at Entebbe Airport Allegedly En Route to Fight in RussiaUkraine War
Ugandan security officials have intercepted nine men at Entebbe International Airport suspected of attempting to travel abroad to serve as mercenaries in the ongoing RussiaUkraine conflict.
The group, made up of ex-soldiers including veterans of the Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) and former security contractors in Iraq and Afghanistan were reportedly lured with promises of salaries as high as $6,250 per month.
Authorities are investigating the case further to determine the full extent of the recruitment network and to prevent similar incidents in the future.
