Two Convicted for Internet Fraud in Enugu as EFCC Arraigns Three Others Over Cybercrime Charges

Justice Mohammed Garba Umar of the Federal High Court sitting in Enugu has sentenced two individuals to prison for their involvement in online fraud, following separate prosecutions by the Enugu Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

The convicted individuals, Arinze Johnpaul Chukwudi and Ajah Damian Uchechukwu, were each tried on a single count related to cybercrime and identity impersonation.

According to the charge, Chukwudi, aged 26, assumed the identity of a fictional South Korean military nurse allegedly living in the U.S., using a fake Facebook profile to deceive and attempt to extract money from a foreign victim. He was found guilty under provisions of the Cybercrimes Act of 2015 and handed an 11-month prison sentence without the option of a fine.
