Trump clashes with CNN reporter over declining Latino support

President Donald Trump pushed back sharply when CNN correspondent Kristen Holmes questioned him Monday about his declining approval among Latino voters.

After Holmes cited a recent poll showing Trump’s approval among Latino voters at 27%, Trump dismissed the figures, insisting that he was “doing great” before accusing CNN and Holmes of being “fake news.”

The figure came from an NBC News/Telemundo poll, not CNN. The survey of 800 registered Latino voters, conducted September 21–28, found 69% disapproved of Trump’s performance, while 27% approved.

Latino voters were an important part of Trump’s 2024 coalition, making the latest polling a notable development as the 2026 midterm elections approach.
