Thai Woman Arrested at Lagos Airport for Attempted Drug Smuggling

A 24-year-old Thai woman, Ms. Pattaphi Wimonnat, has been apprehended by operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) for attempting to smuggle 43 parcels of Canadian Loud, a synthetic strain of cannabis, weighing 46.60 kilograms into Nigeria.

 The arrest took place at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA) in Ikeja, Lagos.

According to NDLEA spokesperson Femi Babafemi, Wimonnat was arrested on February 20, 2025, during the inward clearance of passengers arriving on a Qatar Airways flight from Thailand via Doha. She confessed to being a hired drug trafficker, revealing that the cartel that recruited her had promised to pay her $3,000 upon successful delivery of the drugs in Nigeria.
