Tax ID to Become Mandatory for Bank Accounts in Nigeria From January 2026
Starting January 1, 2026, both Nigerians and foreign residents will be required to present a Tax Identification Number (TIN) before they can open or maintain a bank account in the country.
Banks will no longer allow individuals or organizations to operate accounts without linking them to a valid Tax ID.
