Super Eagles Thrash Benin 4–0 to Book Spot in World Cup Play-Offs 

Nigeria delivered a commanding performance as they defeated Benin Republic 4–0, securing their place in the African play-offs for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The Nigerian team will now face Cameroon, Gabon, and either Burkina Faso or DR Congo in Morocco. 

Only one nation from this group will progress to the Intercontinental Play-Offs scheduled to hold in Mexico, making the upcoming matches crucial for Nigeria’s World Cup hopes.

In the Intercontinental Play-Offs, the African representative will face stiff competition from two teams from North America, one team from Asia (either Qatar or Saudi Arabia), one team from South America (Bolivia), and one team from Oceania (New Caledonia).

The format will see the four lowest-ranked teams play in the semi-finals, while the two highest-ranked teams go straight into the finals.

 The two winners of the finals will secure the last two tickets to the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
