Super Eagles Coach Eguavoen Invites 30 Players for CHAN Preparation
Super Eagles Head Coach Augustine Eguavoen has summoned 30 home-based players to camp as part of Nigeria's preparations for the African Nations Championship (CHAN), scheduled to take place in February 2025 across Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania. This initiative by the Nigeria Football Federation aims to ensure that the Super Eagles B qualify for the tournament, emphasizing the importance of developing local talent. They will undergo training in preparation for the first leg of their qualification fixture against Ghana's Black Stars B, which is scheduled for the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday, December 22. The return leg will follow at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo on Saturday, December 28, making these matches crucial for the team's qualification hopes. The full list of invited players includes goalkeepers Henry Ozoemena (Enyimba FC), Kayode Bankole (Remo Stars), and Nurudeen Badmus (Kwara United). Defenders include Ismail Sadiq (Remo Stars), Waliu Ojewole (Ikorodu City), Imo Obot (Enyimba FC), and others. Key midfielders such as Jide Fatokun (Remo Stars) and Rabiu Ali (Kano Pillars) will also play vital roles, while forwards like Anas Yusuf (Nasarawa United) and Sikiru Alimi (Remo Stars) are expected to contribute significantly to the team's attacking prowess.
