Since everyone’s bringing the ’80s back, maybe we should bring back something our brains actually need: emotional maturity.

Someone who can disagree without turning it into a personal attack.

Someone who can hear, “I was wrong,” without letting their ego fall apart.

Someone who can question what they see online instead of immediately believing whatever confirms what they already think.

Someone who can pause before reacting, consider another perspective, and understand that confidence and correctness are two completely different things.

Psychologically, these aren’t just “good manners.” They reflect emotional regulation, cognitive flexibility, empathy, accountability, and critical thinking.

And honestly, one of the strongest signs of maturity is being able to say:

“I don’t know enough about this to have an opinion.”
