RUSSIAN DRONE STRIKES TRAIN NEAR UKRAINE-POLAND BORDER AFTER EUROPEAN OFFICIALS PASS THROUGH

A Russian drone reportedly struck a passenger train near Yahodyn, close to the Ukraine–Poland border, shortly after former UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson and senior European security officials had travelled along the same railway line.

The drone reportedly hit the train’s engine, but Ukrainian authorities said there were no casualties. All passengers were evacuated from the train following the strike.

Johnson, alongside other European national security advisers including the UK’s Jonathan Powell, had passed through the same route on a different train while returning from a conference in Kyiv.

The timing of the incident is raising questions, although there is no indication that the officials were the intended targets.
