Russia Offers to Develop Nuclear Power Plant in Niger Amid Energy Challenges

Russia has put forward a proposal to construct a nuclear power plant in Niger, a country rich in uranium deposits yet struggling with frequent electricity shortages.

 Despite holding one of the world’s largest uranium reserves, Niger currently relies heavily on power imports from neighboring Nigeria. 

Authorities in Niamey say they now want more equitable energy agreements and are determined to harness a greater share of their natural resources to meet domestic needs.
