Presidential Villa Allocates N10bn for Solar Project in 2025 Budget

The Federal Government has approved a N10 billion allocation in the 2025 budget for the installation of a solar mini-grid at the Presidential Villa. 

The initiative, known as the "Solarisation of the Villa with Solar Mini Grid," aims to reduce the State House's reliance on the national power grid and mitigate the impact of rising electricity tariffs.

This N10 billion allocation is the entire increase in the State House's capital expenditure, which has risen from N33.55 billion to N43.55 billion. 

As a result, the overall State House budget has increased from N47.11 billion to N57.11 billion in the approved budget.

The decision to switch to solar energy comes in response to concerns about the reliability of the national electricity supply and the escalating cost of electricity, especially for Band A consumers who face higher tariffs.
