President Samia Suluhu Cleared to Contest Tanzania’s 2025 Election Amid Weak Opposition

Tanzania’s electoral commission has officially approved President Samia Suluhu Hassan to run in the upcoming general election scheduled for October 29, 2025. 

However, her major challengers have been sidelined. 

The opposition party Chadema was disqualified in April after refusing to sign the electoral code of conduct, while ACT Wazalendo’s candidate, Luhaga Mpina, was barred due to internal nomination disputes.
