Poultry Farmer Dies in Police Custody Amid Allegations of Torture
A poultry farmer, Jimoh Tunji Abdulgadir, has tragically died in the custody of the Kwara State Police Command, with allegations suggesting he was tortured to death. Abdulgadir was arrested on December 20, 2024, following a complaint regarding a debt of N200,000 from a client.
Family members have expressed their belief that the police's claim of suicide is misleading. They assert that he was likely tortured by some officers rather than taking his own life, as suggested when they arrived to secure his bail.
The Kwara State Police Command has described the incident as tragic. Police spokeswoman DSP Toun Ejire-Adeyemi stated that Abdulgadir was invited to discuss an alleged case of obtaining money by false pretence amounting to N220,000.
