 Instead, Vance, who is in Rome for the Easter weekend with his family, had a meeting with Cardinal Pietro Parolin, the Vatican Secretary of State, and Archbishop Peter Gallagher, the Vatican foreign minister.

Vance's meeting with Vatican officials comes amid ongoing tensions between him and Pope Francis over the issue of migration. The Holy See issued a statement confirming Vance's meeting with Parolin and Gallagher, emphasizing "good relations" while also acknowledging "an exchange of opinions" on international conflicts, migrants, and prisoners.
