PETROAN Initiates Registration for Dangote Petrol Distribution

Retail outlet owners affiliated with the Petroleum Products Retail Outlet Owners Association of Nigeria (PETROAN) have begun the registration process with MRS filling stations to acquire Dangote petrol at a price of N935 per litre. This move comes as the Dangote and Port Harcourt refineries have yet to start distributing products to these outlets. The president of PETROAN highlighted that this partnership aims to streamline the distribution process and facilitate price reductions at retail locations nationwide.

Beginning Monday, the registration with MRS filling stations is expected to enable a seamless distribution network for PETROAN members. The president noted that, despite the current lack of product availability from the refineries, some members are already selling petrol at lower prices in areas like Abuja. He emphasized the value that the Dangote pricing mechanism brings to members, aiming to enhance competitiveness and affordability for consumers.

The partnership with MRS is a significant step forward, as the station has opened its facilities to accommodate as many PETROAN members as possible. The registration process has already commenced, allowing members to access products more efficiently. The president expressed optimism that the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) would also follow suit in improving product availability and pricing.

According to the president, the economies of scale favor Dangote in this pricing strategy. He acknowledged NNPCL’s efforts to increase product availability across the country, suggesting that positive changes in the petroleum sector are on the horizon as the new year approaches. The anticipation of increased product off-take and the associated logistics will play a crucial role in determining pricing trends in the coming months.

The PETROAN president reiterated that pricing is expected to decrease gradually as refiners adjust their prices and improve direct supply to retail outlets
