PETER OBI RESPONDS TO WIFE’S HERMÈS BAG CONTROVERSY

Peter Obi has addressed the controversy surrounding his wife, Margaret Obi, and the expensive Hermès bag she was recently seen carrying. Reports have put the bag’s value in the range of ₦237 million–₦250 million, although the exact value of the particular bag has not been independently established. 

Obi said his wife has her own business and income, and that he does not concern himself with what she chooses to buy with her personal money.

“My wife has her own business and her own money, so what is my business if she buys expensive items with her money?”

He stressed that his concern is that public funds should not be used to finance their personal lifestyle, adding that he does not even know how much his wife’s bags and shoes cost. 

The comments have reignited debate online about personal wealth, political image, and public accountability.
