Patience Jonathan Accused of Holding 15 Domestic Workers in Detention Since 2019 Over Alleged Robbery of Jewelry

Former First Lady of Nigeria, Patience Jonathan, is facing serious accusations of illegally detaining 15 of her domestic workers at the Okaka Correctional Centre in Bayelsa State since 2019.

The workers have reportedly been kept behind bars without trial, despite no formal conviction by a court of law.

Sources familiar with the case revealed that the workers' prolonged detention is linked to allegations of stealing jewelry valued at millions of Naira.

The trial has faced repeated delays, allegedly under the influence of the former First Lady, raising concerns about the fairness of the legal proceedings.

According to family members of the detained workers, the arrests were made following a break-in at one of Jonathan's properties in Otuoke.

Even workers who were not present at the time of the incident were reportedly arrested at Jonathan's command.

Although serious charges, including armed robbery and theft, were levied against the workers, no tangible evidence has been presented in court.
