Pastor Tobi Adegboyega Calls Davido a Gospel Artiste Amid Controversy

Pastor Tobi Adegboyega, a UK-based Nigerian pastor facing possible deportation over alleged fraud, has stirred conversation by declaring popular musician Davido, whose real name is David Adeleke, a gospel artiste. This statement was made during an episode of the Off The Record podcast.

When questioned about his choice to invite secular musicians to his recent birthday celebration instead of gospel artistes, Adegboyega explained, "Gospel means good news. Everyone there is a gospel artiste. Davido is a gospel artiste. Have you heard: ‘Because I stand strong?’"

He elaborated that the event featured his friends, emphasizing the strong bonds he shares with them. "Davido told me: ‘I just want to be there and perform for one hour.’ They’re my friends. I didn’t pay any of them. They love me, and I will give my friends platforms," he said.
