Oyo State to Build Rungis-Style Market in Ibadan, Boosting Agribusiness
Seyi Makinde, Governor of Oyo State, announced the state's plan to replicate the Rungis International Market, the world’s second-largest wholesale food market, in Ijaiye, Ibadan.
This ambitious project follows a strategic cooperation agreement signed with Semmaris, the French organization managing the market in Paris.
The proposed Rungis-style market will serve as a major hub for wholesale agricultural produce, benefiting local farmers and contributing significantly to the state’s economy.
The initiative is expected to create thousands of direct and indirect jobs, aligning with the governor’s vision to position Oyo State as the leading agribusiness center in sub-Saharan Africa
