Osun Amotekun Corps Arrests Man for Agricultural Theft

Operatives of the Osun Amotekun Corps have apprehended 27-year-old Adekunle Obideyi for allegedly stealing cocoa, bananas, and other farm produce in Erinmo-Ijesa, Osun State. The arrest took place following a tip-off about his activities in the community. During a press briefing on December 2, 2024, Osun Amotekun Corps Commander Isaac Omoyele reported that Obideyi was tracked down and captured in his hideout after operatives received information about his whereabouts. “Amotekun operatives swiftly acted on the information, tracking down and capturing Obideyi in his hideout in Erinmo-Ijesa,” Omoyele stated. He added that during preliminary questioning, the suspect confessed to the crime and indicated that this was not his first offense. Obideyi reportedly admitted to regularly stealing cocoa and bananas from farms and selling them to interested buyers. He was caught after committing the theft and attempting to hide in an uncompleted building. The suspect has since been transferred to the Osun State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) for further investigation and interrogation
