Ogun Police Arrest Truck Driver and Motor Boy Over Assault Leading to Death
The Ogun State Police Command has arrested a truck driver, Olalere Timileyin, and his motor boy following the death of a man who was allegedly assaulted for stealing a tarpaulin. The incident occurred in Obada Oko, Ewekoro Local Government Area.
According to police spokesperson SP Omolola Odutola, a local resident, Alao Fadipe, reported the incident around 3 AM on December 13. Fadipe witnessed a confrontation outside his house and discovered that Timileyin and his motor boy were allegedly beating a man who had purportedly stolen a tarpaulin, leading to the victim losing consciousness.
Acting on the complaint, detectives from Obada Oko apprehended Timileyin and his motor boy at the scene. The injured man was transported to the State Hospital in Ijaye for medical treatment but tragically passed away during care. His body has since been placed in the morgue for an autopsy.
Odutola confirmed that the suspects are currently undergoing interrogation, and police are working to contact the deceased's family. The case will be forwarded to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (SCIID) Eleweran for further investigation.
The Ogun State Police Command has also issued a warning to residents against engaging in street fights or any violent activities that could disrupt public peace during the festive season and beyond
