Oba Joseph Oloyede and Pastor Edward Oluwasanmi Plead Guilty to $4.2 Million COVID-19 Relief Fraud

Oba Joseph Oloyede, the Apetu of Ipetumodu in Osun State, and Nigerian pastor Edward Oluwasanmi have pleaded guilty to defrauding the U.S. government of $4.2 million in COVID-19 relief funds.

 The two men were involved in a scheme to illegally obtain and divert relief money meant to support businesses affected by the pandemic. They were charged with 13 counts, including conspiracy to commit wire fraud, conspiracy to defraud, money laundering, and engaging in monetary transactions involving criminally derived property.
