Nigerian Soldiers Cry Out Over "Unsafe" Food, Unpaid Allowances & more...
Soldiers deployed under Operation Fansan Yamma in Katsina and Zamfara have raised serious concerns about the terrible conditions they are facing.
Many of them are struggling with inedible food, unpaid allowances, contaminated drinking water, and a lack of rotation, despite years on the frontlines.
One soldier, speaking anonymously to SaharaReporters, described their meals as "poisonous and disgusting," stating that even Almajiri children wouldn’t eat it happily. He further lamented that the food lacks even basic meat or proper nutrients, leaving them weak and frustrated. The drinking water situation is also alarming, as their only borehole is dangerously close to toilets, raising serious health concerns about contamination.
