Miss Universe President Faces Backlash After Calling Olivia Yacé’s Passport “Weak”

Miss Universe Organization (MUO) president Raul Rocha is under heavy criticism after publicly claiming that Ivorian contestant Olivia Yacé lost the crown partly because she holds a “weak passport.”

During a recent broadcast, Rocha suggested that Yacé’s limited visa free travel access would make it difficult for her to fulfill the global duties required of a Miss Universe titleholder.

 His comments immediately sparked outrage, as there is no official MUO rule stating that contestants must come from countries with strong passports.
