More than 144 tonnes of gold reportedly set aside by the late Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi to support a unified African currency have never been recovered, even years after his removal from power.
The disappearance is believed to have occurred during the 2011 NATO intervention, amid accusations that Western forces covertly seized the reserves while claiming to target weapons threats.
