The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested a man, identified as Balarabe Adamu, over the alleged sexual abuse of his eight-month-old stepdaughter in Toro Local Government Area.

According to police spokesperson SP Nafiu Habib, the incident was reported on August 26, 2026. The infant was reportedly taken to General Hospital, Toro, for medical examination and treatment.

Police operatives from the Gumau Division subsequently arrested the suspect, who remains in custody as investigations continue.

The case has sparked outrage, with authorities expected to ensure the safety and protection of the child throughout the investigation.

The allegations are subject to investigation, and the suspect has not been convicted of any offence.
