Legal Practitioners Disciplinary Committee Rejects Request to Disbar Dele Farotimi
The Legal Practitioners Disciplinary Committee (LPDC) has dismissed a request to disbar human rights lawyer Dele Farotimi, who was accused of criminally defaming prominent legal figure Aare Afe Babalola, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria.
The LPDC stated that it lacked jurisdiction to handle the petition filed by Mr. Ola Faro, a lawyer from Babalola's law firm. Faro's request was linked to Babalola's ongoing legal actions against Farotimi, stemming from allegations of defamation related to Farotimi's published work, "Nigeria and its Criminal Justice System."
