INEC Chair Justifies Need for New HQ, Recalls FCDA’s Support in the Past
Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, has shed light on the rationale behind the construction of a new headquarters for the commission, while acknowledging the Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA) for its historical support.
Speaking during the groundbreaking ceremony for the new INEC building in Abuja, Yakubu noted that the FCDA had previously assisted INEC when the commission moved its headquarters from Lagos to Abuja.
“I want to emphasize that this isn’t the first time the FCDA is stepping in to support INEC with office infrastructure,” he said. “When we moved from Lagos to Abuja, it was the FCDA that provided our office space in Garki.”
