India Surpasses China as Top Source of International Students in the U.S.

India has officially overtaken China as the leading source of international students in the United States for the first time in over a decade, according to the Open Doors 2024 report.

 Indian student enrollments experienced a remarkable surge of 66.4% over the past three years, reaching a total of 331,602 in the 2023-24 academic year. 

In contrast, Chinese enrollments saw a decline of 12.6%, falling to 277,398.

This significant shift shows a growing preference among Indian students for U.S. graduate programs, as they seek advanced education and opportunities in various fields. 

The increase in Indian students not only reflects changing dynamics in international education but also underscores the appeal of U.S. institutions as destinations for higher learning.
