– VP Shettima Recounts Past Struggles

Vice President Kashim Shettima has reflected on the political pressure he faced during the final years of former President Goodluck Jonathan’s administration, describing himself as the most vilified public official at the time.

Speaking in Abuja during the official launch of "OPL 245: Inside Story of the $1.3bn Nigeria Oil Block," a book authored by former Attorney General Mohammed Adoke, Shettima who served as Borno State Governor during Jonathan’s tenure shared personal experiences of political hostility.

He claimed that, during one high level meeting involving top government officials, then-President Jonathan allegedly considered removing him from office.

 According to Shettima, it was the former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Aminu Tambuwal, who objected to the idea, reminding Jonathan that not even a councillor can be removed without due process.
