House of Reps Urges NAFDAC to Protect Innocent Traders in Drug Market Closures

The House of Representatives has called on the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) to ensure that innocent traders are not unfairly affected by the recent closure of drug markets across the country.

Following a motion of urgent public significance presented by Victor Afam Ogene (LP, Anambra) on Wednesday, the House stressed the need for a balanced approach in enforcing regulations to protect genuine vendors' livelihoods while tackling issues of counterfeit and unregulated drugs.

The House has directed its Committee on NAFDAC to investigate the closures and ensure that the agency's enforcement actions are fair and just, preventing unnecessary hardship on compliant traders.
