Greece to Refund Rent and Provide Annual Stipends for Vulnerable Citizens 

Greece has unveiled a substantial $1.1 billion economic package aimed at supporting its citizens, especially those in vulnerable situations.

 The package includes a full month’s rent refund every November for approximately 948,000 renting households, representing about 80% of the rental market. In addition, 1.4 million seniors, uninsured citizens, and individuals with disabilities will receive an annual payout of $283.

The financial boost comes as Greece reports a 1.3% overall surplus and a record primary surplus of roughly $13 billion, positioning Athens as one of the few European Union capitals running in the black.
