Dangote Says Nigerians Pay Nearly Half of Regional Petrol Price, Thanks to Local Refinery

Aliko Dangote, Chairman of the Dangote Group, has stated that Nigerians are currently paying significantly less for petrol compared to other West African nations roughly 55% of the regional average price. According to him, while petrol in neighbouring countries averages around $1 per litre (approximately ₦1,600), his refinery sells the same product locally for between ₦815 and ₦820 per litre.

The comment was made during a visit to the 650,000-barrels-per-day Dangote Refinery by Dr. Omar Touray, President of the ECOWAS Commission, and his delegation.

Dangote emphasized that many Nigerians are unaware of the price advantage they enjoy, largely due to the impact of domestic refining.
