A debate over transgender participation in competitive swimming has resurfaced as World Aquatics reviews eligibility rules for future Olympic events. 

Although several athletes and sports commentators have expressed differing opinions on the issue, there is no official statement from Australian swimmer Mollie O’Callaghan regarding Lia Thomas or the 2028 Olympics.
