BREAKING: Tinubu Declares Three-Day National Mourning Over Ondo Military Aircraft Crash

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has declared three days of national mourning following the military aircraft crash in Igbokoda, Ondo State, on Monday, October 5.

The President has also directed that national flags be flown at half-mast across the country in honor of those who lost their lives in the tragic incident.

According to a statement by Presidential spokesman Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu expressed his deepest condolences to the families of the 25 passengers and seven crew members reportedly onboard the aircraft, as well as the Nigerian Air Force and its leadership.

“This is a painful moment for our Armed Forces and for the entire nation,” the President said, stressing that the sacrifices of Nigerian military personnel who risk their lives in service to the country will not be forgotten.

Tinubu also commended the Nigerian Air Force, first responders, and the Ondo State Government for their swift response and search-and-rescue efforts following the crash.

The Presidency said the Nigerian Air Force will release the identities of the victims after their families have been officially notified.

The aircraft was reportedly on a routine mission from Benin City to Lagos when it crashed at Igbokoda shortly after 9 a.m.

May the souls of those lost rest in peace.
