Borno Losing Ground to Boko Haram, Governor Zulum Raises Alarm Over Military Setbacks

Governor Babagana Zulum of Borno State has expressed deep concern over the growing strength of Boko Haram insurgents in the state, warning that communities are increasingly vulnerable to attacks and abductions due to a lack of military response.

Speaking during a special security meeting on Tuesday, Zulum lamented that Boko Haram terrorists had overrun several military formations in areas such as Wajirko and Sabon Gari in Damboa LGA, Wulgo in Gamboru Ngala, and Izge in Gwoza LGA. He described the situation as a major setback in the ongoing fight against terrorism in Borno and the North-East region.

“It is disheartening to note the recent attacks and dislodgement of military formations, along with the killing of innocent civilians and security agents. This calls for serious concern,” Zulum said.
