Benue Under Siege: Governor Alia Says Killings Are Part of Plot to Occupy Land
Governor Hyacinth Alia of Benue State has raised alarm over what he describes as a deliberate and ongoing invasion of the state by armed Fulani herdsmen, warning that the attackers are on a mission to take over the land.
Speaking after a church service at the Chapel of Grace in the Government House, Makurdi, the governor urged residents to stay alert and report any suspicious activities to security agencies. “If you hear something, say something it helps security forces respond quickly,” he said.
Governor Alia described the situation as a direct threat to Benue’s existence. “We are under siege. These attacks are calculated. They drag people out, they kill, and it’s all in an effort to occupy our land,” he declared.
