Appeal Court Dismisses SDP Petition, Upholds APC’s Elegbeji Victory in Remo North By-Election

The Court of Appeal sitting in Ibadan, Oyo State, has dismissed the appeal filed by the Social Democratic Party (SDP) challenging the victory of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the Ikenne/Sagamu/Remo North federal constituency by-election held on August 16, 2025.

In its ruling, the appellate court affirmed the election of Adesola Ayoola-Elegbeji, the APC candidate, and awarded ₦2 million as costs in his favour.
When the case was heard on Wednesday, January 7, Olayemi Badewole, counsel to Ayoola-Elegbeji, alongside APC lawyer Remi Olatubora, raised preliminary objections questioning the competence of the appeal
