Akon’s $6 Billion City Project in Senegal Reportedly Scrapped

Singer and entrepreneur Akon’s dream of building a $6 billion futuristic city in Senegal often referred to as a real life "Wakanda" has reportedly been abandoned due to funding and sustainability challenges.

The project, dubbed Akon City, was first unveiled in 2020 as a pan-African utopia powered by renewable energy and designed to promote innovation, tourism, and cryptocurrency (Akoin).

 However, years after its high-profile launch, there’s little to no visible progress on the site, and recent reports suggest the project has quietly stalled
